update vs. find metadata...I'm missing something

I have a lot of tv shows missing metadata. When I click the update metadata button for a folder of episodes nothing is updated.
When I select a specific episode, click find metadata, don't change anything, and hit scan, I get a range of results.
The first entry returned is always the right one. I can select it and save the changes which works fine. I just don't want to go through that process for hundreds of tv episodes.

Is there a batch function to accomplish this? Am I missing a setting somewhere that will address this?

While it may be obvious to you that the first entry is the right one... it may not be obvious to BMT... fortunately you have much better scanner algorithm for title matching than BMT

If your scans are not updating anything then BMT is either
a. Skipping files because something has already updated the file.
b. The titles are not good enough for BMT to match on.

So far, you haven't provided me with any filenames, so it's a little hard to help you beyond to those to vague options that I've listed.
