Default for Missing Metadata - TV instead?

As I understand BMT currently, if the scrapers return no match, the default is for BMT to list it as a "Movie" media type. Is there a way to be able to have the default be TV instead? the reason being is that all of the random sports and PBS shows I record that have no entry in TVDB (and that I have no intention of editing manually) show up in my "Movies" view in Diamond View (and I know this is a Diamond View issue and not BMT). For some reason in my head though, I think this would be an easier problem to solve on the BMT side rather than the DV side.

Maybe a configurable way of selecting what media type an unscrapable recording is?

And, of course, if this option already exists, my apologies...

This might be something that you'd bring up with the STV devs. BMT doesn't populate metadata for items that it cannot find, so it will not set a media type to TV.

What makes it decide to leave it at Movies though? I'm just curious (think of this as a voyage of discovery instead of a complaint )

It's not left at anything...because bmt didn't change it (ie, the MediaType custom field is blank for the media item) Now, from the web ui, or from some other stv , the decision has to be made to default it to something... because I test for movies last (because testing for tv is easier) then the default from the web ui perspective is movies.

I doubt Diamond is using the MediaType at all, so, they are probably just showing the result of GetMediaFiles("DBV") and displaying it. (I don't know really know what diamond does). It just seems to me that this belongs as a question to the diamond devs, since BMT doesn't change any metadata on a media file that it cannot identify, and the UI has the ability to filter out items that should not be a part of the view.

To put it another way... BMT's role is simply to find metadata for items and not make decisions about how the UI should present that information. It's really up the UI to decide how to show a group of items, and to make decisions on how it would handle files that don't have metadata. If your recorded shows are showing up in the Diamond Movies view, then I'd think that is a bug in the STV, since the STV should filter out recordings from the view.
