Best output and Resolution for client setup?

I am trying to figure out what would be the best output and resolution for my client. I record both SD and HD. Also record QAM which is 576 x 480.. I am not an expert in best resolution maybe someone can assist. Client will be used exclusively for TV no gaming.

video card has VGA component out DVI out and s-video no HDMI

My TV inputs no DVI has s-video, VGA, Component and HDMI
resolutions possible on my TV
VGA 640x480 800x600 and 1360x768
component resolutions 1080i 720p 480p 480i
s-video 800x600 1024x768

You want it set to whatever the native resolution of your display is.

You can use a DVI-HDMI cable just fine.

Never thought of a DVI to HDMI adapter my Native resolution is :
1360 x 768... that is only on VGA. I guess with DVI to HDMI adapter I can set it to that?

mmmmm. HDMI resolutions are the same as component so you saying that the VGA native is the best?

Native resolution is a function of how many pixels are used to make the display. Your screen has 1360 pixels in the horizontal direction and 768 pixels in the vertical direction. It's a physical property and has nothing to do with the interface used.

You can also get vga-component adapters, but if your TV has hdmi then get a dvi to hdmi adapter from monoprice and let your video card figure out the native resolution of your display. Works great.

Yeah I am going with the adapter like Stranger and yourself recommended.

99.9% of the VGA-"Component" adapters don't work in this context/application, they are adapters from VGA (RGB on HD15 connector) to RGB (3 RCA) or RGBHV (5 RCA). Very few TVs accept RGB (3 or 5x RCA). "Component" on TVs is YPbPr, not RGB, they are incompatible.

To convert the two you need a transcoder, or a special video card.
