MVP & SageTV ver7 - menu slow, hard to read, youtube jittery - FIXED
First thing I want to say is that SageTV ver7 works perfectly with recording and watching TV on my MVP (wired units, not wireless). But there are bugs with SageTV ver7 that I did not experience with SageTV ver6 on the MVP. If I had the money I would upgrade my PC, encoder card, Media Extender and get an HDTV but thats not happening any time soon. Three screen shots have been included with this message.
Slow Navigation 1. On the main menu, it takes approx 2-3 seconds to move to each item in the list. For example to move from TV to Video takes 3 seconds, then to move down the list from Video to Music takes another 3 seconds. This happens on all menus, making it painfully slow to navigate the menus on my MVP. If these is a way to speed-up menu navigation please let me know. Small Icons 2. (see attached screen shot) Icons are very small that show (Manual, Favorites, 1st Runs, and Watched). On SageTV ver6 they were large and easy to see but now that are tiny and very hard to read on all menus. I increased the size of the font to 20 and decreased the listing lines to 8 but that did nothing to increase the size of the icons. If there is a way to make the icons larger please let me know. Scroll Bar indicator is missing 3. (in same screen shot as #2) The scroll bar is missing the indicator to show were the program is in the list, is it at the top or bottom, I can't tell. Also, it does not show a number next to the program to let me know if it is a current or old recording. Is there some way to enable either of these things? Program Description while viewing show 4. (See attached screen shot) While viewing a program I like to read the program description, but it only show a few words instead of the whole description like it did in ver6. Is there a way to get it to show the whole description like it did before? Youtube Jittery 5. I can no longer watch Youtube videos or any online videos, since they are jittery. In the Detailed Settings, I turned the resolution down from 1080p to "SD Low Resolutions" but that did not make a difference. Reboot the PC and MVP with no change. Is there a way I can again watch online videos on my MVP with SageTV ver7? Fonts don't seem to fit 6. (See attached screen shot) After increasing the font size to be at a comfortably readable size of 20. It appears that some areas on SageTV do not display correctly as in, problem #4 above and in the screen shot. The text should read "Judge Judy" but it looks like "ludge ludy" and the letter "J" looks like the letter "l". Is there a way to globally fix the fonts so they display correctly at any size setting? Thanks

Thank you for the suggestion, I forgot to check that.
By default "animations" are disabled for the MVP Media Extender and can not be enabled in the Detailed Settings. I got excited there for a second thinking that was the answer/fix to my problems, but not in this case. If there are no fixes for these problems, and in hind site, I would not have upgraded to SageTV ver7 when a MVP Media Externder is concerned. So those of you that are considering an upgrade, and you own a MVP Extender, you may want to reconsider until you can also upgrade the Extender. Does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions? Mike

You can use the old SageTV3.xml that is still in the STV\SageTV3 folder. You just don't get any of the new plugins or features. You can load up plugins just like you use to do in the older versions. That may help from a MVP performance perspective.

Thank you, gplasky/Gerry, you are a god send.
I went to each MVP and changed back to the SageTV3.xml and that fixed the slowness problem by changing back to the ver6 interface, I actually perfer the ver6 interface. In my option it gives more useful recording information, at a glance, than the ver7 interface. Now I have ver7 software running in the background with the ver6 interface. I am happey with this setup. Eventually I will upgrade my PC, encoder card, buy a HD300 and an HDTV, then I may (or not) switch back to the ver7 interface. If anyone else is having slowness problems with your MVP Media Player on ver7 software give this fix a try.
