Issues with Hauppauge Win-TV PVR-350, hard to read menus
Newbie to SageTV, giving the trial a run. I'm having issues using the PVR-350's s-video out.
It works fine when I disable the menus in Sage TV and just use the PVR-350 for video playback. But when I enable menus, then the menus begin to overlap. Whenever I go to a new level of a menu, the old menu is still displayed beneath the new menu, and everything becomes incredibly difficult to read. I really need the menus, the SageTV features are pretty much useless to me without it. |

Try disabling animation, in my beta version it is Setup->Detailed Setup->General. Then select Animation Option. This was recently moved so may be at a different location in your version.

The PVR-350's TV-Out feature is flawed and full of problems because of a bad hardware design. Almost everyone here who has it abandoned the TV-out feature. Do yourself a favor and buy the MVP Extender, you'll be a lot happier and save yourself a lot of headaches and frustrations.

Hey, I had exactly the same problem when I first set up Sage. I think the problem was the version of Java bundled with Sage. I updated to the latest version, and my menus looked fine.
I also tried changing the animation options, but that didn't seem to do the trick for me. Incidentally, I too subsequently abandoned the PVR-350 TV out, although I am not using an extender. The PVR-350 TV out is definitely too limited. Best of luck. Steve |

Thanks to everyone for such prompt feedback! A community like this makes it a lot easier to choose SageTV for my pvr.
I turned off the animation as suggested, and that did the trick. I've read about the problems other are having with the PVR-350, and I seem to be having issues too, but it working OK for now. The TV out on the PVR-350 is just a temporary solution until the Dlink DPG-1200 comes in the mail. Thought about using an extender, but I'm more interested in seeing exactly was in on my monitor and controlling the computer directly. But you're help is much appreciated and will allow me to use SageTV until the DPG-1200 arrives! |
