2 HD PVRs and DishNetwork dual tuner

Hi there,

I recently purchased 2 HD PVRs because I have a dual tuner DishNetwork receiver. I was planning on using the buit in IR blasters in the HD PVRs. However, after reading it seems like my plan is not going to work.

1) I guess one of the tuners in my DishNetwork box is SD only? So I will need another DishNetwork box if I want to record 2 HD channels?

2) I guess the HD PVR IR blaster will not work if I have 2 HD PVRs? So I need to buy a USB-UIRT?

3) Assuming I do need a USB-UIRT, it sounds like they don't come with the IR emitter cables? Will the supplied IR emitter cable from my HD PVR work with the USB-UIRT?

Thank you for your time
Les

Yes, technically it's the second output, not tuner, but yes, only the "TV1" output is HD, the TV2 output is SD only (and I think possibly only RF, not even S/Video).

Yes, Hauppauge only supports one Hauppauge IR blaster per system.

I'm not sure, but with Dish you can set the second STB to a different IR codeset and just use the main blaster for both without worry of interference.

The second tuner is controlled by the RF remote. There is suppose to be an RF to IR converted, but I don't know how well it works. Since the OP already has two HD-PVRs, I would strongly recommend getting two single tuner boxes (if you can have the two coax cables).

Second this. Get a USB-UIRT, and two single tuner HD STB's. The single USB-UIRT will work fine for controlling BOTH sat boxes, and you don't need the emitter cables for it, just point the USB-UIRT at both STB's. Each can be configured for a different remote address, so you can still control them individually.

Thanks everyone for that info.

I am putting in my order for the USB-UIRT now then, hopefully it gets here soon! I am getting anxious
