"Black" video on playback

I use SageTV in conjunction with dvbe4sage. Most recordings work flawlessly, but some of the recordings I get audio and no video (just a black screen). I have found this is more likely to happen if SageTV must wake the computer up from sleep to play the video.

The funny thing is...this seems to only happen with VMR and EVR. I can get the video to play correctly if I go to Overlay...but Overlay generally doesn't work that well on Windows 7 and that really kills my WAF having to mess with those settings. One of my TVs is also on an extender, and it plays the video fine as well. Note that I have tried changing the decoders around and it makes no difference. This is all on a SageTV 7 system.

Has anyone seen something similar, and does anyone know how to make these videos work using VMR / EVR?

I had the same issue with a black screen during playback at times. Since the interface was still showing I figured my client was still connected to the Sage server. I tried to power off and on the extender, but that didn't fix the problem. I then decided to power cycle the extender by removing the power cord and reinserting it. That seems to work for me when the videos stop playing.
