HDPVR spdif audio issues

All,

I just purchased a second hdpvr and picked up a motorola dcx3200 hd cable box(comcast). I'm having an issue sometimes when I tune to a channel I'll hear a crackle and the sound will just drop out. I'll then have to change to another channel and then tune back and the audio will most of the time return. I'm pretty sure it's just something particular to this cable box as I tried switching to another cable box and I don't get this issue. I also tried switching the dcx3200 to my original HDPVR and the issue shows up there as well. Any advice out there?

Update:

I believe this issue to have something to do with wpthe process sage uses to tune to a new channel and start recording again. If I tune to a channel and have sound working, I can manually go to the cable box and change channels perfectly with sound working. When doing this the HDPVR never really stops recording but of course sage still thinks the cableboxnis on the orig channel since the tuning was done outside of sage. Next, there is a property in sage.properties that enables continuous recording(can't remember it right now) when this is set the hdpvr never stops recording among channel changes and I don't run into this no sound issue. Unforuntaley I dont really want the hdpvr to be recording at all times.

So it's somehow related to the process of channging a channel(hdpvr stops recording, sage changes my the channel on my converter box, sage then makes the hdpvr to start recording again).

Try setting delay_to_wait_after_tuning=6000 in sage.properties and see if that helps you out. I had somewhat similar issues with my HDC-8300 cable box and making the above adjustment in my sage.properties helped me out.

Are you using Version 6 or 7 of Sage TV?

Also, what driver version are you using for HD PVR?

I started out with sage v7. I also have the latest driver (I think it's 1.5.7 or .6 something like that..I'm away from my pc now). I only experience this with the dcx3200 on both my hd pvrs and not with my dct 6200(or 6400 can't remember). I tried setting the tuning delay to 7000 at one point and that didn't seem to resolve it. I'm gonna do it for both hdpvrs in sage.properties when I get back to just try it one more time. Sucks thought that I have to slow down my channel changes, I'm using FireWire for that and it's kind of taking me a step backwards

Ok so i've gone an even tried setting the tuning delay to 17500. Sage + HDPVR + motorola dcx3200 with spdif just don't seem to play nice through the tuning process... I'm running out of ideas besides going back to swap for an older HD STB. It's going to get hard because the dcx3200 i believe is the standard issue box now...

Alright so I swapped out the dcx3200 for another DCH3416 (Which i already had hooked up to my first Hauppauge HDPVR) and it works perfectly...

So for all that want to do 5.1 audio from a motorola dcx3200, it doesn't seem to work that well. It could be the box I had was glitchy but I just decided to go for another model..
