SageTV v7 and R5000 information

Greetings all,

Wanted to solicit feedback from members who are using R5000 with SageTV v7 now.

I've heard that the muxer has improved quite a bit and might handle timecode issues better (can occur in R5000 streams).

Aside from the uncommon timecode issue, my R5000 is flawless in 6.6. What are your impressions in v.7?

Thanks,

Benj

I am currently driving 4 r5000s under SageV7 and they are working flawlessly.

With one exception, at 2:00AM the dishnetwork boxes will reset themselves causing a small recording loss.

See below for my current setup as I am running SageV7 on Windows 7 64 bit.

Hope this helps.

Randy

Randy... Your post is double value... My recordings all have a gap at 0300 every morning (central standard time). Didn't know that Dish resets their boxes every 24hrs.

Thanks.

PS: any weird broken timecode issues in your recordings?

Success with R5000 and SageTV7! Just some mild deinterlacing issues to work but R5000 is perfect!

Not that I have noticed regarding any broken time coding issues.

I've got my old 6.6 Server still going just in case and have been running my new 7.0 server for about 2 weeks now. My current setup:

SageTV 6.6 running on Windows Vista
SageTV 7.0 running on Windows 7 w/ R5000 (VIP211)
HD100 and HD200 for playback

I plan to kill the 6.6 pretty soon if things continue to go well.

BTW, not to hi-jack a thread or anything but could someone point me to threads or just give some quick pointers on re-encoding of R5000 files, including comskip (just use comskip?).

We've only really used the R5000 for Live TV but my wife's finally buying into the "record it and watch it later" plan so I'm building up quite a store of files.

I finished my upgrade from Windows XP/Sage 6.6 to Windows 7/Sage7 a couple of weeks ago. Aside from the timecode issues, my 2 R5000's have always been flawless. Since the upgrade, I have not seen any timecode issues, but since the problem has always been sporadic for me, I'm not certain it is really fixxed, but I am hoping...

Rob,

What are you using for playback? Windows or an extender?

For me, all of the timecode issues seem to have been fixed when playing back on Windows but not on extenders (the same file that causes problems on the HD300 for me, is flawless when played back within the SageTV Windows client).

All playback is on extenders.

Maybe I just have not seen the issue since upgrading....

Well bummer. It happened on one of the NFL playoff games last weekend. I hope this is really on Sage's list to fix. It is the only real flaw in my sage setup.

BUMP

My wife is forcing me to revisit this issue. Occasionally a show jumps into FFW or some other random play mode, jumps around, and eventually quits playing. SageTV software playback and MPC-HT play it ok.
