Question regarding how to get information from SageTV
I'm looking at using Boxee as my front end, and still using Sage as my back end recorder, but so far I have not found out how to get the meta information about TV recordings out of Sage. I believe that they are in the wiz.bin file, but I'm not certain, but from researching around it appears that there are API's available to pull information from Sage, but I have been unable to find them. I looked for a Dev forum, and I searched the SageTV Customizations forum, but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I'm sure I'm missing something various obvious, but if anyone could point me in the right direction. Basiclly I'm just looking for the where the APIs are documented, or if someone has already made a plugin that will pull the information for recordings out and dump it.
Thanks. -Stephen |

the API docs are pointed to from the Studio 6.6 Docs (page 8). The API is documented here.
Out of curiosity, why use Boxee's UI instead of sage's? There are, however, probably some better ways to get the info. The Web UI customization can export the metadata as an XML file.

I don't care for Sage's UI, so I switched to SageMC which I liked a little more, but mostly I want to use Boxee because it has better integration with Hulu, NetFlix, etc.... I tried some of the work arounds people had made for NetFlix and such, but it was a huge pain, and often times it didn't work, or NetFlix would change something and it would break my netflix working, so I want something that is a little better integrated.
Thanks for the info about the APIs and the information on the web server stuff, I'm going to check out the webserver stuff. -Stephen |

Have you checked out the new Playon plug in (you use playon to get to Hulu/netflix/Amazon VOD)? It was created a few months ago and it works great. It does require a Playon subscription, but you can generally find that on sale for about $20 ever month or two.
