New Hd300 beta firmware and 1280x720p UI

First off thanks to sage for giving this hd UI makes 100% difference in SMM. I know many have complained about the fuzzy look of some of the images so hats off to them. Excuse me while I do my dance

Next if you are using a hd300 and the latest beta firmware (and only hd300's apply) you will want to change you scaling settings to have better images all the way. This can be doen while sagetv is running you will just need to go into SMM and hit rescal under fanart to get the fanart rescaled. Remeber though this setting applies to all extenders so changing it will effect none hd300's if you have any (could make a difference)

My settings are

ExtenderBackgrounds=1280x720
ExtenderCovers=0x0

Also if you don't want to perform the scaling in the ui but want it to do it on the next import change this property.

ExtenderRescaleOnLoad=true

This will give 100% of the image to the covers and properly matched fanart for the hd300 and looks so much better imho than the other non standard resolution.

I also have some tricks up my sleeves for hd300 users to get much better performance with a couple of other changes they made in the latest beta firmware but I am still ironing out the details of that but short story we should be able to cache allot more images locally for faster performance. That coupled with the latest build of SMM unloading background images after each use should really help things allong. I will share those settings once I get them ironed out.

cheers

See the wiki it is in the scaling.properties

database rebuild

It is located under the smm-api configuration options since the last build. As it was being overused so I moved it away so it is better suited now where it is

Yeah I point you to the mymovies wiki on naming genres and categories and figured it was kind of inherited that you would name folders the same. I will clarify it a bit more.

Plucky - I can't seem to tell from the above what happens if I enable this change and I have HD300s and HD200s? Its clear that the change wont enhance the HD200's any - but are there any negative effects?

Thanks.

Thanks.
It will take up more cache when displaying images on the hd200 (since the hd200 will have to preform more scaling down to it's ui resolution). It could make it a bit slower but I honestly can't say as I don't have any hd200's anymore to test it on. You can always revert back if you notice problems.
