Is now the time to buy the HD300?

I really want to buy an HD300 sometime soon. Is now the best time to buy it? Does SageTV have specials or deals during Christmas? Or release coupon codes during certain times? I'm curious because it seems like everytime I buy a new piece of hardware it goes on sale the next week.

Thanks,

Tony

Let me know when you buy one so that I know the sale will be coming then.

Sage doesn't seem to have any seasonal specials. The pricing seems to stay pretty constant. I would go ahead and buy when you need one.

The other thing to keep in mind that people seem to forget. There is usally a gap in time between shipments. So when the current inventory of HD300 is gone don't come whining if it takes a significant amount of time before the inventory is replenished. People have waited 6 weeks or more sometimes. Plus the HD300 is about $50 less than the previous model and about $100 cheaper than the original HD100. Just something to think about.

It's very rare for Sage to run specials. And the specials are very sporadic. Like previously posted, I think the last special was over a year ago. The HD300 is $30 cheaper than the last model was at the end of its life cycle, and $50 less than when it was released. It's priced very competitively. Besides, even if they release a deal over Xmas (for example), you would have already had it for 2+ months which to me would be worth any discount (normally the discount isn't more than $20).

I know, how could you ask for the HD-300 to go even cheaper. SageTV has to make money someway.

Bought one last week myself, which arrived today, to replace an HD100 that stopped working. Was not real excited that I had to replace the HD100 so soon, but the recommended self-repair did not work so out with the old...The equipment is pretty cheap, but I do not want to start considering them to be consumables. I say that due to my experiences with the MVP, not SageTV brand, but still in my HTPC equipment mix.

I ordered one HD300 and an extra new and improved remote with the tv power/volume programmable buttons. Set up the HD300 earlier this evening in the great room and paired it with my MX700 remote. The included remote and extra remote went to the kid's playroom and our bedroom to retire the old remotes and do away with the need to keep the tv remotes handy. Certainly a win-win today!

Oh, and added bonus, I was still running 6.0.2 or something like that and found that somewhere between that version and the version 7 RC that I installed today the long skip buttons on the remote skip in dvd movies just like they do in recorded shows. No more rewind/ff, yay. It is the little things...
