Issues for Folks Running 480i
I suspect both these issues are "known", but they are new to me, and so I'm citing them here to help out others. They involve the video output resolutions on the HD200.
1) When I updated the firmware in my HD200 recently to work with Sage 7 it reverted to its default video output of 480p. Unfortunately, my ancient "HD"TV can only handle 480i, which is how I'd configured the HD200 prior to the firmware update. The solution is to hook up a monitor that can handle 480p and reconfigure the HD200 so it outputs 480i. An annoyance (the user-defined output resolution should survive an update) but relatively straightforward to solve, once you know what's happening ![]() 2) When there are multiple output resolutions defined (e.g., 480i and 480p), the HD200 appears to "remember" separate output resolutions for displaying the Sage UI and for playing back videos. After I configured the HD200 to output 480i (but leaving the 480p also defined) it displayed the UI in 480i...but as soon as I started watching a video it switched to 480p, and I had to use the Video Out button on the remote to switch it back to 480i. As this would be a serious negative Wife Appreciation Factor ![]() |

So I guess if the TV you are using can ONLY support 480i why would you have anything else but 480i checked? That way it would have survived the firmware update without issue. The one TV I have connected via svideo can handle both 480p and 480i and had no issues upgrading. The other TV I have that connects via composite is configured for 480i only and didn't have an issue.

Yeah, firstly if your TV only supports 480i, that's all you should have enabled.
As to 1) You should be able to hit the Video Out button on the remote to toggle back to 480i. |

Wow. Why would you think I'd enabled 480p before doing the update?
Quote:
But for sake of anyone else who's confused: 1) My HD200 was configured to output only 480i before I did the update. 2) I did the update from within the HD200 setup menu. 3) When it finished the update, my HD200 was configured to output only 480p. This naturally lead me to have a blank screen on my hands ![]() It's pretty clear to me this is a bug/flaw in the update process. Configuration parameters -- particularly those controlling whether output can be seen to be further adjusted -- should be honored during an update cycle. If that's not possible, then the issue ought to be flagged during the update (for example, by posting a note to the screen before actually doing the update that one or more current resolutions will be unsupported after the update). |

OK-I misread it and was confused by your reconfiguring it for 480p. Like I said I have two devices that did not have that issue when I upgraded the firmware.

Then file a bug report with SageTV; the forum isn't monitored to see all issues.

I'd done that already. I just wanted to make it easier for folks who have similar problems to hear about the workarounds.

No worries. Did your devices rely on 480i output?

One did. The other relied on 480p.
