Streaming And NIC Offload

Learn something new every day. I just transferred a DVD over to WHS on a GigE network, and saw the dismal 10MB/s transfer rate. (I've been doing this since WHS v1 beta...don't ask me why I finally decided to investigate this). Then I came across some articles about disabling all offload functions on every NIC (both WHS's and all client's). WOW! The transfer speed jumped up to 70MB/s. I can only assume that streaming and commercial detection throughput would also go up.

Can you post what you did or the article you read? I'm very interested in trying this!

What kind of NICs are you using?

Intel NIC's are the only way to fly. I get a maximum constant throughput of up to above 100MB/s depending on what my server is doing. Usually it's down to around 50-70MB/s. I personally wouldn't use anything but Intel NIC's or PHY's. They are bar none the best.
