7.0.15 brings back skipping on Ch4

I used to get random 30 second skips forward for all the Ch4 channels in 6.6. Since the V7 betas this had been fixed. With 7.0.15 this has reappeared any one else notice this.

I get similar issues on live tv and recording playback from 7.0.13 onwards.

I have remained at .12 due to this.

Yes, my wife mentioned some short pauses / jumps ( less than a second ) on Channel 4.

I am on 7.0.15 too, but I am not sure it is the same issue.

DITTO!, it looks like the subtitle still messing things up...BTW I owe an apology to you regarding the Hauppauge NOVA HD-S2 saying that it doesn't support DVBs subtitles, well when it works (BBC 1 for instance) I do have subtitles, not perfect, but I do, that means that Hauppauge customer support in the UK doesn't even know their own product...not a surprise anyway.

The problem is that in US they don't have the DVBS subtitle the way we do here in Europe, so it is very difficult for Sage people fully understand the issue and fix it, I mean sending them simple pieces of recorded media is not enough, they should have a consistent DVBS signal source from satellite link...

No worries routerunner , I was about to list my NOVA HD-S2 cards on ebay ...

I sent several new files (DVB-S and DVB-T) to SageTV and opened a ticket , but like you said, will it be enough ? They are looking at them so fingers crossed.

Hmm!

Think Ive been having this issue on 6.6. with channels on the Ch4 transmitter (DVB-T). when playing on an HD100. Ive always assumed it was reception trouble!

If it is the same problem, then a quck run through videoRedo may fix it. No changes required, just open it then save it. Strangely the saved file is always arround 10% smaller. Bit of a pain todo, but at least you can watch the whole show.

I saw the skipping problem when I upgraded from 7.0.11 to 7.0.14, so i went back to 7.0.11

This was on a few channels (including BBC1) and both my capture cards (Nova-T-500 and Nova HD S2)

Ive now noticed BBC1 doing a few 30 second skips had always just been CH4 channels. Not had time to get log files over to sage as they requested, must do it soon.

Cool

Yesterday I bit the bullet and upgraded to the latest build of 7.0.15 and the latest HD200 firmware available.

No stuttering or 30-second skipping is now occuring on any of the main channels.

Have you heard anything since, in particular does 7.0.16 fix this?

The list of 7.0.16 fixes does mention DVB-T and DVB-S tuners, but it says they were previously "broken" by V7, which isn't really how I'd describe this problem.

I still havent managed to get some log files to sage but tried 7.16 this morning on an E4 program that was skipping. It still skips in the same places, i tried playing it on placeshifter and its fine. So maybe its a HD200 problem, i always assumed it was a recording problem but looks like a playback thing.

Are you getting this stuttering via the HD Homerun tuners or you PCI tuners?

This thread appears to have split into a discussion about two different problems?

jamesdisco, emotionicon and pjwerdna are talking about 30 second skips on C4 but my post, and the bunch92 post I was replying to, are about more minor stuttering on C4. I think this is what routerunner's post was about too?

I'm not seeing 30s skips; what I see is the occasional hiccup (1s or less) on C4 and its sister channels (E4, +1 etc). This is on HD100 extenders.

The two problems may be related, but I'm sorry if I've assisted in a thread hijack

Hi,

Has anyone logged a support request for the skipping or glitching problem?

Thanks,

David

I think we are talking about the same thing as i get 30 sec skips when watching recorded programs and 1 sec hiccups when watching live on CH4 channels.

I am the same; mainly little slips in live tv and on numerous channels not just C4. Never on playback for me though.

Jamesdisco, you are no longer using the HD Homerun but do you still have it?

I take it this issue only affects DVB-T?

I'm using DVB-S2 with DVBE4Sage and have never seen this issue.

Cheers

I am using a combination of cards and also network recorders (although I have stopped using DVBE4SAGE as it was unstable on my set up), I have noticed the stuttering/glitching on the DVB-T channels, I am not sure if it comes out in recordings.

Do think you will get a chance to send the information SageTV support or shall I also log a support request.

Thanks,

David

Not sure if the problem I was having is the same as you, but it only affected recording of channels that included DVB subtitles. Playback would work OK on my PC, but would exhibit audio dropouts when played on my HD-200 or HD-100.

This has been fixed in 7.0.16, but as it was a problem with recording, the shows that were recorded on the earlier versions of course still have the problem.

John
