HVR2250 and SageTV Linux Edition

I know that the HVR2250 is working with MythTV, but I wasn't sure if it is working with Sage. Can anyone verify? I am in the process of building a new server due to running out of Storage in my old one and need to switch to either Windows 7 or Linux (preference on Linux), but I am not sure if I want to have to shell out for both a new Sage Licence and a new capture card (need to capture from at least one composite Analog source). I could switch back to my PVR500, but that would mean giving up two of my digital tuners as well.....

Working in Myth with Analog? I'd be interested in knowing this as well.

My assumption is that it will work fine because it uses V4L. I would also send this into SageTV via email.

Okay per the MythTV wiki:

NOTE: The driver is currently for Digital ATSC and QAM tuning only.
UPDATE: Steven Toth has posted on 3/15/10 on kernellabs.com that he hopes to start work on analogue support mid-year.

You can see it here: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_HVR-2250

So the Analog currently is not working, but at least I know the Digital Tuners are which means I could pair this with my old PVR500 and still have the functionality I have now.

I'm new to Sage - Actually, just switched over from MediaPortal (Man was I missing out..) but I have a HVR2250 and am using it as a dual analog tuner with SageTV without an issue. (I'm using Windows 7 to host my SageTV7 install)

See the following link for documentation on supported TV Tuner cards (listed under Supported Analog TV Tuners with Hardware Encoding):
http://sagetv.com/requirements.html?sageSub=tv

Hauppauge WinTV HVR-2250 is listed.

Not sure if that's all you needed or not, but I hope it helps.

Hey Johnathon,

Welcome! As an FYI - we're talking about running this in Linux.

Yes welcome Jonathan! I do love my HVR2250 on my Windows XP machine and I tried MediaPortal several years ago (was unimpressed of course who knows things change over time).... Now if I can just get it to work under Linux (specifically Ubuntu).

Trying to get away from Windows..... Mostly Mac now, just a couple more PC's to go....
