Some non-FAQ questions re: the Linux edition
Hi. GREAT product! Or at least the Windows version is. But I'm one of the original Linux kernel developers, and it just wouldn't be right for me to run the Windows version here!
So, some things I need to know before choosing the Linux edition of SageTV: (1) Does it support the exact same sets of audio/video codecs as the Windows edition, for Google Videos etc.. ? (2) How does it interact with Linux power management: suspend-to-RAM, suspend-to-Disk (hibernate), shutdown, power-up? This one is important to me, as I would like the box to be powered-down (or suspended) when not in active use, and still wake-up for scheduled recordings (and go to sleep again afterwards). Saves a lot of money on power bills that way. (3) Remote controls: I want to use the Hauppauge 34-button remotes: how do these get integrated with SageTV? Via lirc, or something built-in? (don't care which, just want a heads-up). That's it, really. I think. Cheers |

Pretty much but it does not do DVDs although you can use something like VLC instead. Works well once you get it setup. Check out wmctrl too. |
