Normal CPU usage?

Running windows 7 64 bit. I'm getting 10-15% CPU with SD broadcasts on my HVR-1850, around 30-33% with QAM HD on the HVR-1850, and 50-60 with HD broadcasts on the HD-PVR using the Arcsoft decoder. I am running EVR mode (same result with overlay and VMR9), hardware acceleration enabled, 9500 GT PCI-E. Are these normal CPU usages? Thought the HD-PVR should be lower on my system. Thanks.

That sounds very high. I don't get very high CPU levels unless I process files with Comskip or compress videos. I've offloaded the Comskip and video compression to another quad core computer, so I don't see high CPU levels on my SageTV computer. With one HD program recording on a HD-PVR, the CPU is between 0% and 1%.

I used to see higher levels like you are seeing when I played back two streams of compressed videos on two older MVP extenders. I rarely use those older MVP extenders anymore.

You didn't post what type of CPU and memory you are using, so it would be difficult to access your situation without more information.

I installed CoreAVC, and its down to 15ish% with the HD-PVR. To clarify, these are my CPU usage's while watching TV on the same HTPC, not an extender.

CPU Usage

High CPU Usage during playback is usually attributed to video chipset. Virtually all contemporary video chipsets have MP2 hardware decoding, but not all have MP4/h264 decoding.

HDPVR is always h264....(if I recall correctly)
