What is normal CPU usage?
I am a new Sage Client user. I am running a 2.4GH Celeron with 500meg RAM and an ATI 8500 video card. I have tried the Sage default filters, nVidia filters, and Intervideo's filters (with CPU registry change in place), but I consistently have CPU usage around 60-70% with frequent peaks of 100%. When it is spiking at 100%, I have significant response lags to commands. The most noticible time is if I am surfing through the guide while a video window is open in the corner of the guide. It makes the guide almost unsuable. Is this normal?

'Normal' CPU usage varies from system to system & depends on all the settings being used. Maybe someone with a setup similar to yours can respond, but I'm curious about one part: are you displaying SageTV on a second monitor (or a TV configured as a secondary monitor)? (From the Windows' Display Properties -> Settings tab.) If using 3D Accelerationa and VMR9 on a non-primary monitor, cpu usage will most likely be quite high, since DirectX acceleration works best on the primary monitor.

Thanks Andy. I may have found the problem. I reinstalled my video card drivers--actually upgraded to the latest catalyst driver set. This appears to have reduced the CPU usage to between 40-60%. I am wondering if the drivers were corrupted in a way that resulted in more work by the CPU instead of the GPU. But, to answer your quesiton, I am using overlay and on the primary monitor.
