50-60% CPU usage

I'm getting high CPU usage (50-60%) when watching HD-PVR recordings on my server (even when using WMP to watch them). Is there any way to lower the CPU usage? I have 4GB RAM, 8400GS GC, and a Intel core 2 duo processor.

Sounds like the processor is doing all the decoding. Is hardware decoding turned on? What are you using for decoding software?

I assume you are using the CoreAVC based on your other post. I just tried the new version and also get 50% cpu. I have never got hardware decoding with CoreAVC on my ATI hardware. The ArcSoft decoder in TME that came wtih it should work just fine. I have found I have to use overlay as well as there will be occasional tearing otherwise.

I am using CoreAVC and have hardware decoding turned on...working fine except for the horizontal lines going through the picture. I have everything set to "default" in my sage decoder setup menu, and am using overlay. It is totally random though, I wouldn't be surprised if I load up the GUI in 3 days and it starts stuttering like crazy.

What is the CPU usage when it starts stuttering?

What is the video card and OS?

Have you looked at the properties file to see what is set for:
