Color Issues

Think I know the issue but could use some comments/suggestions:

Setup:
Panasonic SD TV
HD200
SageTV with Hauppauge 2250 tuner
VCR (replacing with SageTV/HD200)
DirectTV SD STB (Sony SAT-B50)

DirecTV STB connected to Splitter (one to VCR, one to PC)
VCR out to TV coax
HD200 out to TV composite

Pictures on TV/VCR - color normal
Pictures from HD200 - are off.

I assume this is because of using composite?
would getting component cables make the color more "true" as it is via coax from the STB?

Other suggestions for me to improve Picture quality from HD200....really want to get rid of VCR but WAF is a big factor

Have you calibrated your display? Have you calibrated your capture sources (if they're analog)? What is actually correct and what most people think are correct (used to watching) are normally two very different things.

Each source on my display allows for different calibration settings. So I calibrated my display using my DVD/VCR player and the Avia DVD. Then I calibrated it using an ISO image of the DVD playing back through my HD200. The color, brightness, etc.. settings for each input is different, but now if I play a video from either device the output on the TV is the same.

That just leaves the capture side of things. With digital capture (such as QAM or OTA) you're just writing the stream to the disk so there are no capture settings to calibrate.

For analog capture like you're doing you need to calibrate your capture card. I've never tried to calibrate a card like yours so I can't help you there.

Thank you. Will have the wife do that since I'm partially color-blind so have a higher tolerance for this.
