letterbox color?

In sage client/placeshifter, I can set the background color when I display pillars or letterbox. The feature appears missing from the HD200. Or have I missed something?

In my case it matters, as my CRT based HDTV can (and does) burn in on hard edges like this.

Suggestions?

There is no support at this time for specifying the bar color outside the video. I don't know whether that can or will change.

I set my STB to output gray bars outside 4x3 video, so those gray bars get recorded into 16x9 recordings.

What I usually do, though, is use custom AR modes to zoom into and/or stretch the video to fill the entire screen. You can interactively edit custom AR modes on the HD100 and HD200 during video playback.

Yea, I had considered editing ZoomA to size correctly for 4:3 but there is also the problem of programming that is shot for 16:9 HD (such as Dirty Jobs) that is broadcast on 4:3 systems and 'hard' letterboxed by the tuner.

I'm thinking that the best way that I can deal with this to program ZoomA to deal with the straight up 16:9 programming embedded in a 4:3 signal. It won't look any crappier than usual.

I'd love to upgrade to DirecTV HD, but not at these prices. :^)
