SSD alignment instructions for Windows XP installation?

Does anyone have a link to how-to info regarding partitioning/formatting an SSD with the proper alignment before installing Windows XP on it?

I found the info a couple months ago, but now that I'm preparing to do this, I haven't found it again & must not have saved a link to the site. I see lots of google search links saying it should be done, but so far nothing with the how-to part. I must be using the wrong search terms this time.

Thanks.

- Andy

see if these links help you:

formatting the drive:
http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/wi...ws_on_a_VERTEX

using acronis to reload an image and preserving the disk offset:
http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?54509-CLONE-amp-RESTORE-IMAGE-MY-FOOL-PROOF-VIDEO-GUIDE&highlight=fool+proof

the first link has instructions for diskpart to make the alignment correct... but for some reason my memory is telling me that you really want to use diskpar. This post has the reasons why diskpar is better (no rounding)

Yes, that jogged my memory about Diskpart vs. diskpar. That should help, thanks!

If you've got a Win 7 install disk, I think you can just use that to create the partitions (it's smart) and then just install XP.

That's in one of the above links, but I don't have Windows 7 at all. On the other hand, that page has another link for a Vista recovery CD that can do it too.

Shouldn't you be working on SageTV 7 instead of messing around with an XP install??

I need to build a new PC so I can work faster & am including an SSD (Super Speedy Drive) for that purpose.
