Ranking Channels in the EPG

I'm about to add Freesat to my SageTV WHS. I use an HD200 as the media centre & I use the Radiotimes EPG with Stefan's importer.

When I first installed my Freeview card I spent much boring time with the Sage GUI ranking the channels in the EPG into an order that I wanted. When I put the DVB-S2 card in, I'm going to see a large number of new channels which I am going to have to order. Is there any config file that I can edit to put all the channels into the EPG where I want them wihout having to do it all through the GUI?

nothing that's really easy to work with. i believe all these setting (physical channel, logical channel, etc) are all in the sage.properties file, but they are crammed into a single long, confusing line.

Not entirely sure what you mean by ranking the channels - do you mean changing the logical channel number ? (eg BBC1 as 101 etc) Since some of the channels on freesat will overlap with freeview, as long as the channel call signs match then they will be merged in the guide. Otherwise, you will be looking at changing the logical numbers. Latest version of Stephane's imported lets you do it there (Not upgraded to it yet, i just read about it in his email update)

Cheers

Brewston,

What I mean by "ranking" is displaying the channels in the EPG so that I have the ones I watch most at the top. I guess this means the logical channel number.

When I bring Freesat in, I'll want to put BBC HD & ITV HD below the respective Freeview channels. I'll also want to put QVC & BidTV right at the bottom!

I, too have Stephan's latest version but, like you I have not yet installed it.

Hopefully, this may make it a bit easier.

OK

Sounds like we're talking about the same thing so your choices are to set the logical channel number in Sage or in the importer. Like I say, some of them will merge anyway (BBC1, BBC2, ITV1 etc)

DVB-S scans find a *lot* of channels - I actually disable quite a lot of them (In fact I disable some of the Freeview ones too )

For things like QVC and BidTV, I'd just assume disable them. No point cluttering up the list.. let alone the chance of it recording crap from one of them if they happen to match a keyword or something.

Try the Favorite Channels List mod, gives you a lot of scope to group the channels. I have mine grouped to loosely mirror the Sky Guide, ie Entertainment, Lifestyle, Documentaries etc.
Originally I did it for the WAF, but it makes it a lot easier to use over one big list.
