Digital Audio Not Working on HD200

Just purchased my second HD200 a couple of weeks ago. My first is working well using the HDMI output. My new unit is hooked up with component video and both analog and digital (optical) output. The video and analog output are working fine, but I can't get any sound from the digital audio output. I've tried both the bitstreem and PCM audio options but neither work. I've set it up to plug directly into my preamp as well as through a optical - coax coverter, but nothing seems to be working.

Before I ask for a RMA on this unit, I thought I post here just incase I'm missing something.

Any ideas?

Please give more details. What is it you're trying to play? What kind of receiver? I've known some receivers that have very specific settings as to what they are able to decode at any given time and you have to change it manually rather than it automatically detecting the signal.

The preamp is a B&K Reference 30, I've tried playing Live TV, Movies and Music. It can detect the signal but I've tried to change it manually as well. Thanks for the help.

You say it's detecting the signal. By that do you mean that it correctly shows that it's receiving a PCM, Dolby Digital, or DTS signal depending on the source? Have you tried connecting the HD200 to a completely different receiver or pre-amp? Have you tried a different optical cable? Or how about a different optical input on your pre-amp? Just trying to give you some ideas to rule out the possible problems.

In my own setup I have my HD200 going through HDMI to my TV and then the SPDIF output goes into my Sony receiver. Works perfectly. The HD200 will even send a full 5.1ch DTS 96/24 or stereo PCM 96/24 signal over SPDIF.

Seems like you're ignoring my last post. I gave you good friendly advice. Did you really want help or did you just want someone to tell you that you need to RMA your HD200?

From everything I've read about the B&K Reference 30 people have had various problems with the unit. Sounds like it can be somewhat problematic or temperamental. I've also read that there are apparently firmware updates available for it. Have you tried applying any firmware updates?

For that matter have you updated the HD200 to the latest firmware (preferably the latest beta firmware)?
