Digital Audio In
Hi All
I am using Sage TV with a PVR250 capture card. I have this connected to my directv receiver via the component inputs. I would like to know if there is a capture card available that will let me capture the digital audio stream from my dtv receiver? I'm not even sure if Mpeg 2 can handle 5.1DD but it seems a shame not to be able to capture this stream. TIA Chris |

Are you looking for a video/sound card or just a straight audio card?
The Delta DiO 2496 by M-Audio has an Optical in and also has an Optical out. The MSRP is $249. I think it may work as long as you have CODECs that will allow it, such as just passing the raw data through. I would like to test this card out but I do not see $249 being a viable solution for TV digital sound. But some other manufactures (such as Creative Labs) have other solutions like this, being through PCI or through something like the Live! Drive. I think even in the UK there is a manufacture with Optical in and out on a PCI card for about $50 all on a PCI card. I was trying to find the card again last night but was unable to. Just a few weeks ago there use to be a lot of them on eBay. |

Yes there are audio cards with digital in, but capturing AC3 is tricky (I've looked) and there aren't any TV cards that capture digital so you can't record the the AC3 along with the video.

What a jip!
Such as I want to see PCI cards that allow you to have multiple inputs such as Optical, Component, DVI, S-Video, etc… jacks and such just like a normal receiver and then output them all into one. Some day it will be here, but I hate waiting. |

Waiting sucks.
