USB UIRT Zones – Output strength
I am having some issues getting my DishNetwork 322 to actually use different remote codes and thus ended with “two” boxes using the same remote code. I started looking into the multiple zones capabilities of the USB UIRT.
This is where I am at and my one issue: I have access to an IR emitter with one end. I also have access to an IR emitter with two ends from an old Tivo (not sure if this is the “stereo” one needed). My USB UIRT was purchased during the last six months and thus has multi zones capabilities. Zone 1 does not seem to output anything either from the built in or the plug in IR emitter. Not such a big thing because I actually only need 2 zones to control the current setup. Maybe I have the loose connection mentioned elsewhere but I am not worried about it. Zone 3 is the built in emitter and Zone 2 is the plug in IR emitter. This is the issue I am having. Zone 3 appears to output a different signal strength when SageTv is changing the channel as a result of a favorite or forced recording than when I change the channel using the remote controlling SageTv [using Event Ghost]. If say, I change the channel directly on SageTv then it changes as expected, but with the recordings it seems that I have to get the USB UIRT close to the box for it to control it. In both instances, it should be using the same ir file and sending the signal through Zone 3 so I am not sure how this is possible? EDIT: I mixed the zone numbers, now corrected. Z3 issue solved.
The USB UIRT is sitting on the shelf on top of the DN receiver. IN moving the stuff around to make some changes and install the TV2 IR DN converter. Moving the DN receiver still on the bottom shelf but to be a little behind the USB UIRT resolved the issue. I guess the sender is in the back of the unit. |

It sounds like your external emitters are using a mono mini-plug (just tip and shield). The jack on the back DOES have two zones on it, but they are tip-shield, and ring-shield.
As for the TV2 IR adapter, I have read numerous reports of it working fine on a different channel than the TV1.. not sure where your problem is at.

Just checked an old thread here where the TV2 is set up as IR channel 2, so it SHOULD work fine for you that way.

Thanks Fuzzy. My main issue is that no matter which remote code I set TV1 to it still responds to remote code 1. I changed the setup so many times that I cannot recall if I did try setting TV2 to something other than 1 and whether it was also still being controlled by remote code 1.
I will however try it and report back in case this is of use to anyone else. |
