Well I just read the USB-UIRT multi-zone post on their forum and it seems my USB-UIRT supports the new multi-zone (bought it in mid March), will have a look later at how it works, but it could be the answer to both native support within Sage and also using Girder at the same time.

I read the link to the other forum & it mentions a way to modify IR codes to specify which zone it is intended for. Is there a way to modify such codes for SageTV w/o having to start using Girder?
I keep getting tempted to consider getting cable boxes for a few extra channels... - Andy

Just modify the .ir files they are simple text files.
EDIT: I have not tried this so I can not say whether it will work or not. John

You posted a reminder that SageRecorder needs to be used if you want to control multiple IR blasters... Can SageTV control multiple boxes w/1 blaster?
What would be great would be if SageTV itself could control the 3 zones for 3 of the same converter boxes w/o needing to run multiple copies of SageRecorder controlling multiple usb-uirts. Unless I'm way off base & this is already how it works... ?? I'm still in the 'thinking about doing this' mode, but maybe others would get use out of the 3 zone capability... - Andy |

If nothing else, Girder can be used to send the proper zoned IR codes for 3 boxes but it seems to be the case that one can edit the Sage IR file and make it possible to control all 3 zones with just SageTV. I am purchasing a 3 zone UIRT this week and will be trying it soon. I will post my progress and results here as I go. |
