HD PVR and DISH Netowrk VIP222 HD STB
Greetings all:
I'm wondering if I've got my setup properly configured, as I get random freezes on my Hauppauge HD PVR, and it seemed to crash Sage TV when I tried to have it tune to a different channel for a recording. Does anyone know which is the correct DISH code to use in the irblaster setup with the VIP222 ? I found one that powered the STB on and off, however the only way I can change channels is through the Program Guide; if I try to use the number keys on the Hauppauge remote nothing happens. I'd appreciate any tips or tricks from you kind folks! Wayne, SF Bay Area, CA System: Windows 7 64 Bit, Intel Core i7 860 CPU @ 2.80 GHz, 8 Gb RAM, Sage TV v 6.6.2.218, Hauppauge driver 1.5.6.1 |

Install the 1.0.5 version of the drivers. That solves most people's problems.

Not sure if DISH boxes have usb or serial ports but its definitely worth the $10-$15 of wires from monoprice.com for the reliability and stability over IR tuning from the HD-PVR, USBUIRT works well too but its more expensive and a little slower to tune chans.

No serial or USB channel changing with Dish. I use t USB-UIRT with no problems. As far as channel-changing speed goes, the HD-PVR is so slow to lock in the signal anyway (or rather Sage is with the HD-PVR) the actual channel-change time on the STB is pretty much irrelevant IMO.

Good call, Im testing my USBUIRT with an SD source so it tunes the channel fast once the USBUIRT sends the command, each channel change I get a 2-3 second showing of the previous channel.

Thanks Fidget! I'll give that a go this weekend. I presume that once I install those drivers, I rerun the IRBlaster config and set up the Dish STB?

I used a USB-UIRT because I am planning on integrating two 211s and Hauppauge has always had "issues" with the IR transceivers when you have more than one of their products installed. You would think they would get their act together (it has always existed), but they haven't

the USB-UIRTt is just that much better an emitter anyways. I certainyl think it's well worth the purchase cost.

Hi All:
I installed the 1.0.5 driver and that seems to have taken care of my existing problems, but a new one has cropped up. While running the IR Blaster configuration, I found a number of DISH codes that powered off the STB, but none of those codes allowed the remote control or the Sage program itself to change the channel. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall Sage to get the channel changing and remore control functions back? Or might I have inadvertently done soemthing else? Appreciate the help! Wayne |
