Remote Issues with Multiple Set Top Boxes

From being a long time lurker I see that some Sage users have multiple HD-PVRs connected to their Sage systems. That suggests that they also must have multiple STBs in the mix. I currently have a Comcast Motorola DCT6200 HD DVR connected to my Sage system through a HD-PVR using firewire to change channels. The DVR is also used as our STB when watching Live TV. I have 2 HDHRs to capture un-encrypted QAM stations to Sage. Both solutions have been rock solid but as Comcast moves more stations to HD we are finding that is it getting harder not to have HD-PVR recordings conflict with Live TV viewing.

One possible solution is a second Comcast STB HD-PVR pair dedicated to Sage recordings and the other for Sage recordings and Live TV viewing. My concern is that the remote control used for TV viewing will also be recognized and acted on by the STB used solely for recordings.

How are others dealing with this issue or is it a non-issue and I’m just obsessing?

When setting up a system with 2 STB's I put black heavy construction paper around the IRBlaster and IR port on one or both of the STB's depending on usage. That will avoid having the remote change the channel on both STB's.

Thanks for the answer. I thought that would be the most likely solution. I blocked the IR port on the HD-PVR to prevent it from receiving remote commands when watching through Sage.
