Adobe's Flash comes to TVs, set-top boxes

This was just "leaked" April 19, 2009 and will be announced officially on Apr 20, 2009. Looks like Adobe might be throwing their hat in the set-top ring (at least from a software perspective). Not sure what this means for the market but it appears to bringing some of the big hardware, software, services and content providers under together. I didn't see Microsoft listed... ;-)

Microsoft would probably go silverlight. And besides, at least on uverse STBs their GUI looks pretty much like MCE, with the exception of using AT&T's Clearview font.

It's logical. Most of the high end sets have basic internet support, and the circuitboards are damm near a normal computer anyways. I'm kind of betting since most people use flash for video now they are basically trying to be the middleware for Mpeg-4 AVC support. If anything maybe we'll get some decent interfaces in our cable settop boxes for once, instead of interfaces that were just decent 10 years ago.
