2 Set-top-boxes using 2 150 with ir-blaster.
hello friends,
due to the work that has to be done with the 500, i loaned another 150 card. now i have 2 150 cards on my htpc running sage. i noticed that the Ir-blaster config, only works with one of them (my first 150). how can i make my second 150 Ir-blaster to work as well (separately of course). please advise. |

You'll have to get another IR blaster if you want IR control of 2 STBs, since only one of the Hauppauge blasters can be used at a time. (Unless the 150s are in 2 different PCs.) The USB-UIRT is fairly popular for controling multiple boxes.

thank you andy,
I'm sorrry i'm not following (newbie..). if i have (on same pc) 2 hauppauge 150 installed, each with its own ir-blaster, in sage i "told" him that the second is using ir blaster, but it wount use it. i'm not sure what you ment by to get another ir-blaster.. i for each one of them its original (of course each is connected to different set-top-box). |

what Opus means that you can only use one Hauppauge IR-blaster, even though you physically have 2. The hauppauge software that controlls the ir-blaster is not sophisticated enough to run multiple ir-blasters, it even has a problem finding a single blaster in a computer with retail-150's and MCE-150's.
For a second ir-blaster, you would need to use a different brand blaster, one that uses a com port or USB, like the USB-UIRT that Opus recommended. |

If you have a Radio Shack nearby, it is fairly easy to make one. The directions and parts are listed in this thread http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...light=usb+uirt
