Error(-4,0x80070057): Problem using the capture device.

That's the error I got. I reset (turned off and back on) the HD-PVR, then I unplugged and plugged back in the HD200. Ultimately the only way I got things running again was to reboot the computer, with both of the above unplugged and then I restarted the HD-PVR and the HD200 in that order. The symptoms were that I could still access the server via the HD200 but playback was a blank screen. It would act as though everything was alright sometimes, but would still get the intermittent Error message.

So what does this error message mean, and in particular what do the first two numbers (4,0) mean? Are those ports? There was additional information in the error message suggesting that I update my firmware, but all of that is up-to-date.

Seems to work ok otherwise, but I'd just like to know what might have caused the error so I can workaround, if necessary.

What driver version are you using on the HD-PVR? I am using version 1.0.5.301 without any problems.

I don't know what the error themselfs are, but I just bought a HD PVR and a HD SageTV Theater and was getting those errors as well. Very frustrating.

The fix for me as it has been for others is to downgrade to driver hdpvr1.0.5.301_whql

Stop SageTV, simply install that driver over old, reboot server, reboot HD PVR, and see if the errors go away.

This is now all I get.

I can no longer use the HD-PVR device, because all I get is this error. I've rebooted, turned everything off and on, and all I get is this stupid message about whether my driver is installed correctly. I turned everything off briefly to install Microsoft Office, and when I turned it back on after rebooting I started getting these errors *all the time*. I'm just disgusted. If one thing doesn't go wrong with this system something else does, and I'm spending *all* of my time just trying to get the thing to work. I feel like just tossing all this stuff in the garbage and renting a DVR.

I'm using 1.5.6.1

I tried everything, including a system restore to a restore point prior to the onset of the problem, but ultimately I had to restore from a system image so lost all of my installations and data from before that image. I really don't know what the problem was, but it seems to be working now. I'm not satisfied, though. I mean if the only thing I can use this computer for is running the HD-PVR and SageTV it seems like a big waste of money. Sure is a fragile setup when just installing Windows Office throws everything off. Bit of a hothouse plant.
