Talking Using Motorola Tuner device for capture device

I know this question has been asked before but many of the posts are older and with the new version of sage out I was wondering if it's possible to configure the Motorola DCT-6200 as a capture device in sage 6?

using VLC I can see the HD "free" channels just fine and I use channel.exe to change the channels already and it integrates with Sage well.

So it seems like it would be simple to use the Tuner device to capture video through sage.

Any idea what I could do to get it to show up under capture devices in sage?

Thanks in advance.

CHeck out the STB Firewire (IEEE-1394) Support thread for info on how to record from your 6200 through a firewire cable. It works great, no other tuners needed. Post 831 has a good tutorial to walk you through it.

I have a 6200 also and am using USB-UIRT to change channels.

What's channel.exe and will it make the tuning mistakes go away??

Thanks!

Yes using channel.exe you do not need to use IR and I never have errors changing my channel. It changes the channel using firewire.

Just search the forms for channel.exe, that's how I found it initially.

You will need to install the drivers too. Check this site out for those -

firewire channel change is built into firewire recording via sgraphrecorder, so you'll get to it if you follow spaceghost's walkthrough

If you don't want to record but just change channel, there's a guide in the guides section.
