BD Subtitle Support in v6.6
I am not seeing forced subtitles, therefore trying to track down where the breakage is happening. I use the SageTV Client and no server at this time. I also re-muxing my BD backups to enable me to play them on my client (this too could be my problem).
When playing a m2ts file, right click, select Captions (off) -- nothing happens. I have confirmed the file has subs in it. In chapter 4 of the manual it says: "The following video formats can be imported: MPEG1, MPEG2... M2T, TS,... BDMV (Bluray) folders can be played using the STP-HD200. This will only play the main movie in the folder with support for audio tracks, subtitles and chapters." The paragraph implies I should have subs displayed. Though it's a bit confusing when it calls out BDMV trees specifically. Is this saying, I must have BD trees to get subtitles? And, this will only work on an HD200? (I may be reading too much into it) It could be saying, it's should work in my scenario and I found a bug. OR, I have not re-muxed properly. Any insights would appreciated... |

After further testing and investigation, here are my results:
Playing a BD Tree or the M2TS file directly: Client - subtltles do not work at all (BD Tree not recognized) Placeshifter - subtltles do not work at all (BD Tree not recognized) HD200 - subtitle language selectable, forced subtitles not working In other words, if you are an english speaker wanting to watch a BD movie such as District 9, you must turn on english subtitles for the entire movie to get the subtitles when the aliens are speaking. (If you don't know District 9, everyone speaks english except the aliens) Maybe it's just the movies I am watching, but it sure seems like there are more and more movies with forced subtitles. Am I missing something? Is there a properties setting to turn on forced subtitles? (I am so surprised more users are not posting on the subtitle support) To those more experienced Sage users here, what is the logic behind not supporting subtitles in the client and Placeshifter? thanks |
