Upgrading from Vista to 7 on client - anything to beware of?
I use my office PC as a Sage Client. I want to upgrade this PC from Vista to Win7 in the near future. I will likely be doing an in-place upgrade rather than a new install as I don't want to have to reinstall all of my dozens of apps.
Is there anything Sage related that I should be aware of? Is there any reason from a Sage perspective why I should do a clean install instead of an upgrade?

Other than the clean install being a way to forcibly clean up any codec messes that might be on an older install, I don't foresee any real problems. Worst case, you might have to reinstall sage-client, but I don't even think that would be a problem.

No problems with a fresh install. Upgrading I can't really say. Upgrade from vista to 7 is just asking for problems - if not for a Sage specific issue, then for the many other apps you have.

I'd say the upgrade from vista to 7 would be pretty much a non-issue... architecturally, they are pretty much the same OS.

Personal experience varies, but I always frown on upgrades of MS (and some linux's) upgrades between OS versions. IMO it usually ends up costing more time debugging the issues that arise later than it save initially.
There is also the side effect of a much faster machine after the clean install that can't be ignored. Specifically for visa -> 7 upgrade, I have read a couple of bad reviews on a few sites regarding it. But to each their own.

I had to do a clean install, since I as going from Vista Ultimate x32 to Win7 Professional x64. But, everything I've read has said the in-place upgrade from Vista-Win7 should be pretty smooth. Ars had good things to say about it. As Fuzzy said, there isn't a huge difference between Vista and Win7.
