Forgot to free up license key before upgrading to Vista

I forgot about freeing up the license key before upgrading to Vista. After reloading Sage Client, it won't accept the license key that I was using on the same computer. Is there any way that I can free up the license key so that I can use it for the client on this computer? By the way, using the Register command and leaving it blank isn't accepted. You get a message saying that you have to enter a key.

Have you tried restarting your SageTV server?

Yes. I did that before I entered the key.

Please can you clarify what is not working?

Are you prompted for a licence key when you start Sage, and the key is not accepted?
If so what is the error being given?

(note: there is no need to 'free up' or uninstall a key before an OS reinstall, or even before junking an old client PC, the only time you need to free a key is if for some reason you change the IP address of a client machine, and you do this by restarting the server)

It does let me put the key in and says that it's valid. Then I get a message that a license can be used on only one computer and that I have to buy another license. If I use the REGISTER command to enter blanks, I get a message that I have to enter a valid license key. The IP of the server is the same, but the client may be different because the router has been restarted in the interim. The client on my laptop still works fine. OOPs! Just had a thought that maybe I entered the key of the other machine. I will try the other key and let you know.

OK, it was my goof. I put in the license key of the other machine. Still having a problem, but it could be Vista related. When switched to live TV it goes to channel 663, says sign-off and the screen goes black. I'll open another thread for this one.

Been there, done that many a time, if they had T-shirts for it, I'd have a closet-full by now... .
