HD-PVR Random Audio Sync Issue
I've suddenly started having problems with the audio syncing on my SageTV client, but ONLY when I play recordings from my HD-PVR. It does not happen with anything recorded off my PVR-USB2's (MPEG2-PS) or OTA ATSC recordings, either 1080i or 720p.
Also, it is not a situation where the audio starts out fine at the beginning of a show and drifts out of sync as the show progresses. I can start a show anywhere, but once I skip around or fast forward or jump via the time bar, the audio goes way out of sync. If I skip around again, it may come back into alignment with the video, it may not. This happens with any H.264 recording made off the HD-PVR. I have tried as many combinations of decoders and renderers as I can and I can't get the problem to go away. I don't know what I did to cause this either. I saw yesterday ATI had released new drivers and a CCC but even upgrading those did not help, not that it necessarily should. Any thoughts? My client is using 32-bit Vista SP2 with an ATI 4650 card. Output is analog audio to my TV's analog audio inputs and video is 1080p via DVI to HDMI cable.

Have you tried the latest driver for the HD-PVR? 1.5.6.1? I have it running on WHS with no issues so far.

Change the device which the HD-PVR is recording from to output stereo only (PCM), not Dolby Digital.

My STB only puts out 2 channel analog stereo. It's what I've always used. AC3 2 channel sound is what gets recorded, same as my OTA ATSC stuff, which is AC3 either stereo or 5.1 depending on what is being broadcast, which obviously I have no control over. But again, I have ZERO synce issues with my OTA AC3 stuff. I have no sync issues with DVD playback either.
I'll double check the driver. But I have no issues on playback on my HD200 and have not for the several months I have owned it, so if my HD-PVR is messing up, shouldn't the sound off my HD200 be out of sync also? What's throwing me is that if I start playing a show, I'm fine as long as I don't ever skip around or anything. But if playback resumes in the middle and I go back to the beginning, or skip around to watch something, that's when the sync issues occur.

Just for the heck of it, I put the SageTV client on trial on another PC of mine that's never had Sage on it.
It's got an 8600 GTS card, not exactly a powerhouse card, not exactly a piece of junk either. It's actually got the same board as my problem child client as well, with built-in audio. I have also uninstalled and re-registered the client on another CPU with a 9800 card but a more powerful E8500 processor. No audio issues no matter what their either. They all have most recent Java versions. No matter how hard I try on the new trial client computer, I CAN'T make any HD-PVR recordings' sound go out of sync. I can alter the audio decoder or rendered or leave it at default. I can change the video decoder as well, enable or disable HW acceleration. It may make the picture smoother or jerkier, but the sound stays lined up. Go figure. It's got to be some issue in Vista client CPU.
