USB-UIRT Question
I have a USBUIRT connected for the sole purpose of navigating SAGE, there are no tuners involved. The remote is working well other than skipping too fast on certain commands. For example, if I press down to navigate a menu it will jump down two rows instead of one, and the same thing going back up. Is there a setting I can change to get this to work correctly? Thanks for the responses ahead of time.

When you learned the commands to Sage try learning the button twice for the same command. It should show two different number codes for each button learn. You'll need to do that for all the buttons.

Thanks for the reply Gerry. I unlinked all commands and relinked, learning twice in the process. It did indeed show two different numbers each time. However, the problem was still the same. Even restarting SageTV the issue remained. I press down and moves two entries down. Any other ideas?

What type of remote? If it is doing this for up, down, left. right then remove it from the commands altogether. Some remotes emulate the keyboard command so it is repeating for those certain buttons. Just remove it from those that are repeating. Those buttons should work without being linked.

I am having this issue but had pushed it to the side because I am having other more important issues with Sage and USBUIRT, but since I noticed this thread I decided to add what I have seen so far.
I am using a Harmony One, Hauppauge PVR-USB2 (older model). The Harmony One has been setup to emulate the 45 button remote. If I use it with the Irblaster in the PVR then both remote controls work perfectly. I only programmed the up, down, left, right as a test but immediately noticed the issue nathanspowell posted about when switching to controlling Sage through USBUIRT. Seems the issue is between the USBUIRT and Sage and not speed or throttle control on the Harmony because it works perfectly if using the Irblaster and the 45 button also shows the same behavior when using USBUIRT. The issue occurs with both the 45 button and the Harmony as expected because it is set to emulate the 45 button. The response time also seems to be sluggish using USBUIRT compared to Irblaster. For the time being I decided to just use the Irblaster but eventually would like to move the PVR to where it does not need to be in line of sight by moving from the Irblaster to the USBUIRT. Any suggestions as to how to fix this will be greatly appreciated. Last edited by Islander; 10-19-2009 at 05:37 PM. |

Islander - when you say "Ir Blaster" are you referring to the IR receiver that came with your Hauppauge capture device?
If so, I'm in the same boat. I have multiple Hauppauge PVR-150 capture cards. Initially, I was using all of them to tune cable tv directly. I used the IR Receiver that comes with the cards (I just plugged in to one of the cards). Later I added a cable box to the mix and used the Hauppauge IR blaster to change channels. Eventually, I added a second cable box, but since the Hauppauge drivers didn't support using more than one IR blaster, I got a USBUIRT. I use the USB-UIRT in multi-zone mode to change channels on two cable boxes, but I kept the Hauppauge IR receiver to handle the remotes. My issue came when I tried to get rid of the Hauppauge IR Receiver and use the USB-UIRT for everything. I found that when I tried to navigate the menues, every time I press the down arrow, it moves down two places. When I press the up arrow, I have to press it twice to get it to move once. I am also using the Hauppauge 45-button remote. When I was "learning" the remote, I noticed that if I programmed the same button multiple times, sometimes I would get different codes. For example, I tried programming the number "5" button on the remote. I tried it 7 or 8 times and got 4 different codes. I couldn't figure out how to clear the codes, and I couldn't figure out where the remote codes get stored (I'm guessing it must be in wiz.bin, because I couldn't find anything in the .properties file or anywhere else that was obvious). I played around for a few hours (re-started Sage many times and even re-booted the server a few times), but in the end gave up and went back to using the Hauppauge IR receiver.

Tiki that is correct, I was referring to the IR that comes with the Haup.
If anyone is able to solve this then that will be one item less to solve on my list ![]() |

It doesn't seems that in SageTV (I can be wrong on this, if someone knows how to configure repeat delay, I'm sure it will contribute on this thread) you can configure the repeat delay value. So you'll have to use a third party software to handle the USB-UIRT: EventGhost, Girder or my software (LM Remote KeyMap, see signature) With my software you can choose the repeat delay (and also disable repeats alltogether for buttons that doesn't need repeats). As you are not using the USB-UIRT as a blaster it's easy to switch (unlink all command from the USB-UIRT in SageTV and use my software instead) If you also use the USB-UIRT as a blaster, you'll also need to use my software for this as the USB-UIRT cannot be shared by different processes running in a different security context. Regards, Stéphane. |
