HD200 Looses signal
Maybe someone can put me in the right direction. I have two HD200 extenders and they are on ethernet Cat 5E cable I ran. I also tested with a tester and works fine on the tester showing all pairs work. Anyway... I can use the extenders to my server running MC 6.6.1.217 at java level 1.6.0_15. But once a day it gets a 'loss signal' on my TV and the box red connect light is out. Only the green power light is lite. Sometimes I just turn on the box it reconnects and things start to work. The boxes I noticed are sluggish (between menus) but I watch tv fine. I put it in standby mode, then come back 8 hours later its either frozen in my picture slide show as standby or off all together. I ran each run like 50 feet to the wireless router in the basement (linksys) (WRT54G) firmware V8.00.2.
Sometimes when the box is streaming a show it just freezes resets, and I have to hard reset the box by unplugging it (when I say box i mean HD200). I just put on the beta microcode on the box same thing, Where should I be looking? The server? Router? Should I play with QOS? Any ideas would be great because I am getting frustrated , if tried reboots, resets of hd200 the whole thing. Thanks Andy |

I've been having stability problems with my HD200 as well, though crashes/freezes are pretty infrequent. I certainly don't them everyday- maybe once a week or so. In my case, upgrading firmwares actually significantly reduced the frequency of crashes/freezes, but hasn't eliminated them. My HD200 sort of half-rebooted on its own last night. I was watching TV when all of a sudden it just went to a black screen with the Sage logo, like it was booting up, but it hung there until I unplugged the HD200 and plugged it back in. I have had the HD200 just entirely lock up and shut down where its not outputting a video at all, similar to what you experienced, although that specific type of failure hasn't happened to me for a while.
I don't know what the cause is. I suspect firmware is related, since before doing the upgrade I was getting freezes every day or two. Heat might be a factor. Has anyone else noticed if their HD200s seem to run significantly warmer than their HD100s? It's not hot, just noticeably warm to the touch. I have no idea if that's what's causing it. |

HD200 Heat
I had an HD100 before this and notice actually or think at least the HD200 is cooler, I have mine out in the open so I dont think this is my issue. I also wonder if it had to do with my HDMI cables but then thought I always used the sames ones.
I did the beta testing during the 6.x upgrade and for the most part I didn't touch the microcode in the hD200 until recently to the beta for it. Before this I could leave them up in standby (showing pictures) for days while I was away. Come back to my place they would still be working fine. I will try the older microcode tonight when I get home. I hope this will help me and will post my findings. Andy |

That's not standby though, right? That's just the screensaver, as far as I know.
I too have noticed the HD200 seems to crash/freeze when it sits idle for extended periods of time. But, I haven't tried it recently (after upgrading to the newer firmware). |

reggie, Have you been checking to see if you are getting the java errors on the SageTV server when the HD200 freezes?

I checked for those java error log files in my SageTV directory, but didn't find any. There aren't any configuration files that I need to change to enable that sort of logging, are there? I think anytime there's a java problem it creates one of those error files.

No configuration, it's automatic on a java error. You would see them if your issue was java related or java memory management related AFAIK.

WEnt back on Micro code for the HD200
I took your advice went back to 20090505. The HD200 seems to be more responsive, not lagging between menu choices. This is good for both of them. Now one has stayed connected all weekend. The other after about 50 minutes looses signal when playing the photos (sleep mode).
I did some rewiring, before I went from the server to a switch to the router about 50 feet of cable. All Cat 5E and I tested the connectors all seems to be fine. I now cabled all the Sage connect TVs to the Linksys router and server directly. I only run the kids pc etc to the switch for lack of ports on the router. I was thinking of getting a newer router maybe that would help this one TV? Any ideas or should I ask the hardware forum, its just annoying, could it be the PC its a dual core Gateway about a year old. I mean I never have an error on it if I reset the HD200 which has the signal loss it all comes back to life from a plu and unplug. Never had to reboot the server. Any ideas welcomed. Thanks Andy |
