PVR-500MCE and DTA's
Well it looks like I am going to losing a tuner on my PVR-500 now that I am being forced into using a DTA from Comcast for extended basic. The PVR-500 has only a single coax for both tuners. Being forced into early retirement I am looking for suggestions as to the cheapest way to either add another tuner (that would work with the PVR-500) or replace the PVR-500 with two tuner cards. The Comcast Pace DC50X DTA only has coaxial output for channel 3 or 4.
I will have to try and manually disable one of the two tuners on the PVR-500 so SageTV will not try and use it and hope it plays nice with a second tuner or be forced to replace it with two tuner cards. Another option I was looking at was to try and find a cheap way to convert the coaxial output of the DTA to video composite (demuxer). Have not found anything cheaper than another video card. I believe I could specify that the second tuner use the composite input. So any suggestions as to what the cheapest way to go would be? John ![]() Last edited by jwilson56; 08-30-2009 at 05:19 AM. |
