HD-PVR causes SageTV to crash when trying to watch live tv. How to fix?
Hi,
I switched over to a HD-PVR from a PVR-350 in getting ready to go to HDTV this fall. I removed the PVR-350 hardware from the computer and have installed the HD-PVR system after running the hwclear program. I installed the Arcsoft TME program off the supplied CD but have not upgraded to the newer version available. The HD-PVR displays television using the Arcsoft TME program that comes with the hardware fine through the s-video and composite video ports. When I used the newer version of the Arcsoft TME program, I wouldn't get any video but I also didn't get any errors to pop up. I also took out the Geforce FX5200 card and put in an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro to see if that mattered. I am running the latest ATI drivers out for the 9800 Pro video card. I did a full wipe of my 6.6.2 SageTV install and reinstalled it from scratch. When I get to the point in the setup that SageTV wants to try the 4 different levels of recording, I try the most basic one. I get a black screen and after a few seconds "NO SIGNAL" shows up and then SageTV crashes to the desktop without an error posted to the screen. I also get the following error when trying to test which quality setting to use: "There was a Playback Error in playback. Details: sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-4,0x80040217(: There was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback." I made sure to select Arcsoft for the H.264 decoding and I have SageTV for the MPEG video decoding. I am using the latest SageTV version and the latest HD-PVR drivers from the Hauppauge website. Any ideas to get my HD-PVR to work in SageTV? Thanks, Chad

Ok, somehow it started working on the lowest video playback level of Basic. I still get the No Signal warning for a second and then the video starts playing. I guess I'll mess with things more and see if I can get a higher level to be accepted. On the SageTV Client I was able to get the "Advanced" level to work. I dunno, is all of this video card related?!?!
If I try to select a level higher than Medium on the main SageTV server box then the SageTV server software will lock up.
