Does SageTV crash for anyone when they watch certain HDTV channels?

I can reproduce it always, I was wondering if this problem was identified. Some channels work fine, others cause the crash. The HDTV support is kind of shotty

This happens to me too. I just got HD going in MyTheatre but when I tune to an HD channel (using the MT plugin) it crashes. Using the 4.16 beta.

I've decided the HDTV support in SageTV pretty much is worthless. It is quite easy to make it crash. Seems like a lot of people have problems including ourselves....

If you're having problems, please submit a bug report. If you can reproduce it like you say you can then you can help us fix the problem you're experiencing. Many HDTV problems vary by location so we may not be able to reproduce a lot of them in house easily without your help. So I encourage you to help.

It happens for me occasionaly switching between/to/from 480i subchannels (e.g., Weather Plus or PBS SD multicast channels). I've never seen it happen switching between HD (1080i or 720p) channels. Program just freezes and have to kill app with Task Manager.

I've used SageTV4 for several m onths wiht a Vbox DTA 150 and I haven't really had any issues with HDTV support. I always bounce around between Media Portal and SageTV, but last night I got a new HTPC case and an additional tuner (Fusion 5 Lite), so I decided to overhaul the system and start from scratch, with only SageTV installed. Since I use MEdia Portal, I'm quite used to finding bugs and submitting them to the Devs. This whole Media PC is a relatively nascient undertaking, and you'll find that many MCE users have loads of issues too.

So far the only issue I am having is that the sound bounces around from PCM to AC3 when I start My TV untill I press "pause". Once I unpause everything is peachy.

I will admit though, that I do not watch a whole lot of TV and I don't really channel surf, at all. I just set Sage to record what my wife wants and forget about it. We have been watching the Olympics lately, which pretty much leaves us on the same channel all the time. I will keep an eye out for the problems you guys have mentioned. If I can reproduce them too, then we'll just get our logs to the devs so they can address the issue.

HDTV crash

I crash when I tune to channel 846. (ESPN HD) To get 846, I turn off my cable box and restart Sage. I select a different channel and turn the cable box back on. It will play 846 perfectly while showing that it is tuned to a different channel. Subsequent channel changes behave normally. Based on this behavior, there is probably a software anomoly in Sage. This drove me crazy before I found the work around because Sage would open back up tuned to the crashed channel and crash again.

I am running the Sage Beta with the firewire hack. A beta with a hack? Problems have to be expected.

Hi,

I'm having the same crash issue .. but mine happens sometimes when watching live TV and sometimes when I have a scheduled HD recording (when I'm not watching) ... In those cases I've had rendor errors show up and also where Sage just completely quits without any error and needless to say .. no further recording.

There were a couple of weeks ago where every thing worked fine in the mean time I've upgraded to a couple of beta versions and also updated my ATI HDTV tuner drivers ... and now I'm not sure which one is the culprit

Currentely runing latest beta 4.1.9 with lates ATI HDTV capture drivers.

*sigh*

Hope we find some solution .. I'm logges a bug ticket since I can reproduce to some extent. For now I have unconfigured the HDTV tuner ...

I don't know if it's channel-related, as I only watch one show on our UPN affiliate, but my client has crashed virtually every week when watching recordings of Everbody Hates Chirs. In each episode there seems to be a specific point that causes the graphic processor to fail. All other HD content plays fine for me.
