SageTV crash when starting to watch a recording
Hi,
The title pretty much says it all. I am going to watch a recorded show and SageTV locks up on and and I have to ctrl-alt-del and restart it. This does not happen all the time and in fact is quite uncommon but nonetheless annoying. Is anyone else noticing a similiar problem? -Matthew |

I occasionally get a full reboot when starting to play back something As this happens with both Sage and Windows media player playing back MPG's and Xvid's, I blame Windows/graphics cards drivers/DirectX/crappy mobo...

I am seeing this happen every time I finish watching a recorded show. At the end of the show the last frame shows and each command sent via remote takes 1 minute approximately to execute. Same thing if I use a mouse for clicking on the UI. I do have Comskip enabled, and show delete options enabled at end of recording.
I am using the PVR 350 TV Out only to my TV. v2.2.4 beta, and Cayars STV. This happens with any STV really. It seems to come out of it eventually but I have yet to figure out how many or what causes it to eventually come back to normal. Of course I can close and restart SageTV but that's a waste. I also have tried to stop the recording prior to the end. Ideas? Thanks. |

Anyone else seeing this? Anyone found a solution? Its getting old seeing SageTV freezing randomly when I start a show.

It would be GREAT if we could isolate/solve the freezing problem. Unfortunately I'm sure there are many different causes. The WAF drops to zero when it happens (especially if a show that was recording gets missed) and we end up going back to Tivo for a while until she calms down. I think there is some correlation between when you have guests over to watch a show and when Sage crashes - because I can watch it for a week with no problems, we have company over and it crashes 20 minutes in.
In fact, after 2 years of playing with Sage, I'm seriously considering getting another DirecTivo and dumping Sage. Even with hundreds of hours of work and thousands of dollars in investments, it is still far less reliable than the old standby. Now that I've hacked my Tivos, I've got web access, can stream shows from Tivo to my PC or another Tivo, have soft padding (GREAT feature), can listen to MP3's, get the weather, etc. Not to mentin that PQ is still better than Sage even after trying 10 different codecs and buying a new $250 video card. I'm finding myself wondering why I continue to dump money and time into Sage when I have so many problems with it. I'm not bitter or anything

Related issue?
I think this might be related to the "Watch Now" bug that several v4 users are experiencing. You might want to look at this thread to help (but there is no fix found yet, sorry).
