Spring Cleaning Time

I have been thinking for sometime about this but need assistance on implementation.

Let's say that I have 100+ recordings of House (for my wife)

I would like to be able to create a "delete list" for lack of a better name. It would go something like this:

1) Extract several fields from SageTV like show name, detailed description, air date and path to the media file. This extract would be a .txt file (or something easier to read)

2) Review the .txt file and remove all of the shows that I want to keep (thus creating the delete list)

3) Feed the delete list to dirmon2 or another similar tool to delete & clean up all of the stuff I know we won't watch.

We do have options set to record first-runs and re-runs. I know we could limit the problem here but then we may miss a show or two. Not the end of the world I guess.

Any suggestions on how to clean up my life? There may be a more elegant solution but I cant see the weeds for the trees.

Thanks

I would use the SageTV Web Server to do this.

Do a search using the webserver for the show title. Then checkmark any of those resulting shows you want to delete, then under "actions" delete file.

Quick and easy. Just be careful not to delete more than you intend - your wife might not be happy if that happens

Definitely don't want to delete too much. I don't even want to think about the day I accidentally deleted a new Dancing With The Stars!

Great suggestion. I will look at the Web Server. One question. Will I still need to go into each show's detailed recording info (lots of remote button presses or mouse clicks) and then back out to select the ones I want to delete?

When you say Web Server I assume you are referring to neilm's Web Based User Interface. Correct?

My hope was to have almost a one page anthology of all recordings with details. Might be wishful thinking.

Thanks

No, you can search/view by show name or a search field and it lists all matching titles. Then you can go down the list and put a checkmark on any you want to delete any of the shows you want all in one fell swoop.

It's not wishful thinking - very easy to do with the web server
