Lazy Comskip not cleaning up...
So I finally got comskip working, YES!! but my K drive is full of .txt files and.edl and other stuff... comskip is not cleaning up an i dont know why . When I did the Web browser setup I left the three default files to be cleaned up and in the .ini file I set a certain key to clean up after itself. Im just not sure what Im doing wrong. Any help would be much appreciated

Are you using Comskip Monitor to actually control Comskip? If so, there's a config file in the Comskip Monitor folder that identifies whether or not to clean up, and what file types to clean up.

We'll try to make this easy. I'm assuming the drive is shared and mapped? Go into Network Places and go to that directory. Look in the address line of the window and you
ll see what it should be. For instance on my address line it would be \\MAIN\Videos. The server name is MAIN and the share name is Videos. Share out the drive if you already haven't done and give read and write permissions. Or look at your drive map tool like you were mapping it and you will see the same sort of path. That's what you want to put for your files directories in Comskip Monitor. Mine would be \\\\MAIN\\Videos. Note: If K: is a local drive just share it from your server and follow the above. Gerry

I attached a picture of MY Computer The Drive that I use is K. I tried the map netowork thing and the Z drive is what it placed at the bottom when I look at the properties of the K drive it shows network path as \\DESKTOP\Recorded TV. I tried putting that in the Compskip file and it still had the same results. The Z drive properties shows .. well it doesnt show anything but whats in the picture...im confused and my K drive is loaded with crap. I am using SageMC if that changes anything

Is the Recorded TV a Vista Media Center thing? Did yo have Vista Media Center set up and configured on here? How many PCs are on your network? Did you create the K: drive as another partition on your physical drive? In My Computer right-click on your K: drive and choose sharing. Share it out and give the share a name like Recordings. Find your computer name. If your computer name is Desktop then \\DESKTOP\Recordings would be the UNC path. After you share the drive go to map a drive and type in \\DESKTOP\Recordings. (Don't browse.) If that works then use \\\\DESKTOP\\Recordings in your comskip monitor file.

Okay so I'm pretty sure I understood what you explained and followed it to a T, but still no cleanup. The thing I dont understand is why the other directories work to find the programs in the comskip file but when it comes to cleanup the directories dont work. Does comskip monitor use different methods for different things? Like this line
comskip.config=C\:\\Comskip\\comskip.ini |

Okay..... so I am a moron. I copied back the original csm file to test something out. I thought that the txt and edl files were deleted when the comercial marking was complete. After reading the entire Comskip thread I realized that they get deleted when you delete the show from Sage. So the way comskip setup the directory K\:\\ is okay to use , I was just ignorant to the way comskip acctually works. Thanks for all the time you wasted helping me! Sorry..
