This is sort of an arbitrary question. I use nVidia purevideo and have what I consider phenominal picture quality with mpeg2, but a lot of that has to do with my specific setup (hence the reason I say it is an arbitrary question).
Is your sage client also your sage server? Is it dedicated to this only? What processor type and speed do you have in your sage box? What type of video card? What capture devices are you using? What rendering mode are you using in Sage? How do you have purevideo selected inside Sage? (Purevideo, Purevideo Post Processor, Default) Are you using FSE mode?

This is a dedicated server pc standalone. It is network encoded from dvbdream.
It is a amd 6000+ x2 4 gig ram and nvidia 9800gt 512MB on Vista 32bit. The current codec decoder is nvidia purevideo in FSE. I have tried alot of different codec with little results and much is with horizontal line in fast action frames. I tried EVR but that is only worst then vmr9. I would like to control more deinterlace picture. Right now I am trying powerdvd(9) mpeg2 codec which the quality is better but still a lot of lines. I am viewing this on a 61" Samsung dlp through dvi to hdmi cable. |

A couple quick things for you:
1) nVidia Purevideo does not support EVR, only Overlay, VMR7 & VMR9. Hence why it looked worse when you switched to EVR. 2) Not sure if it is still the case, but it used to be that nVidia Purevideo did not display the little icon in the task tray unless it was set as the default decoder. Unless that icon is displayed, purevideo is using the default playback settings and I have no idea what those are. To get the most out of it you need to change the operating system decoder merit for purevideo to be the default (highest) and inside Sage select "Default" instead of "Purevideo". You will know you were successful if when you playback an mpeg2 video inside sage, the little icon shows up in the task tray. The icon will let you into the decoder properties and allow you to select things like VMR9 playback, Automatic Deinterlace, etc. 3) Cyberlink PDVD8 uses specific registry settings for each and every application that accesses it. Thus, even if you setup PowerDVD8 to playback beautifully, those settings do not move over to Sage playback. There are forums posts regarding setting this up correctly. That being said, I do not know if it is the same for PDVD9.
