Is it hardware or is it codec?
The HD PVR plays perfectly on the HD100. However, when I play it on my server, the picture jumps around. However, anything recorded with the HDHomerun is fine.
Other than what is included with my video card, I have no real codecs for the h.264. Should I add codec? Any recommendations?

You may want to try installing the Total Media app that comes with the HD-PVR. It should actually install a codec that will end up being an available choice in Sage. Try playing your video using the Arcsoft Total Media codec. If you own Cyberlink PowerDVD ver. 7 or 8 that would be another option.

Thanks for the reply.
I am not sure I have version 7 or 8 of Cyberlink PowerDVD. Need to check that. I am going to install the codecs from Hauppauge cd. How is CoreAVC codec?

I'll be trying the Arcsoft Software (with codec) that came with the HD-PVR CD tonight as well. More info on getting the CoreAVC and Arcsoft codecs set up in SageTV here UPDATE: Switching to Arcsoft did the trick for me. Details here Last edited by Brent; 06-04-2008 at 04:38 PM. |

Okay. So I *finally* have success playing back HD-PVR files from my laptop through SageTV. Now, I the video looks like it's dropping some frames or something, but, here is that I have configured currently. Hopefully this helps others and maybe someone can point out what's wrong with my setup :P
Hardware: Dell Inspiron E1705 Laptop T5200 Core2 Duo processor @ 1.6GHz 2GB RAM Nvidia GeForce GO 7900GS (likely the culprit :P ) H.264 codec: ArcSoft TMX (comes with HD-PVR) Modifications to sageclient.properties - Change to: videoframe/h264_video_decoder_filter=ArcSoft Video Decoder (Thanks HawgGuy!) Client settings within SageTV Client: Video Renderer - VMR9 MPEG2 Decoder Filter - SageTV SageTV MPEG DXVA - Yes MPEG4 Playback - DirectShow DScaler - (no changes made) Audio Renderer - Default MPEG2 Audio Decoder filter - SageTV So with this setup, I'm getting a smooth, framedropping, constant HD feed over wireless (802.11g). Playback through ArcSoft directly provides a smooth HD feed over wireless. So, there's still something strange in my setup.... but getting closer Edit: I meant to post the following CPU Memory statistics for the SageTVClient.exe process: CPU 50-60% utilization Memory - anywhere between 140MB-250MB, depending on what I was doing.

ok, so I checked the properties file and the videoframe/h264_video_decoder_filter=ArcSoft Video Decoder. I also had already installed the TMX. So I tried an HD file in VLC, and the say playback problems I was having with Sage I am having with it.
Basically, I am getting a white ghost and stuttering with the Arcsoft codec. I downloaded the trial of CoreAVC and I eliminated the white ghost, but the stuttering was much worse. Any other ideas?
