dscaler 5.0.0.4 codec

or even the 0.5 version.

how in the world can i get sage to see this codec?

i tried adding the property line that kny3twalker provided
>>videoframe/additional_video_filters=Mpeg2 Video Decoder,Video In,Video Out<< (minus the >> and <<)
to the sage.properties file and struck out. i then downloaded the microsoft program to set filter defaults and made dscaler5 the default codec but when i select default in sage the nvdvd 4 codec still loads?

so any ideas on specifically what i need to do to actully have dscaler5 appear on the codec choice list in sage?

nvdvd4 works well for me but i'd prefer to use dscaler5 for dvd playback as it's a bit more processor friendly to my lowly p4 2.0 and still provides great results.

thanks.

ps. anyone use a SA3250hd cable box and care to mention how well the thing works with an ir blaster? i'm considering upping my cable package so i can get a few more HD channels beyond the ones i get from my tv's built-in hd receiver.

you need to use the names as they appear in radlight
and you do not need the in and out stuff anymore

furthermore with beta 2.2
I get black screen with all renders
you should download .05
it may be fixed there

you say radlight - i say...whaaaa???

i'm taking a guess that this is a playback ap and not some radeon tweaker or something?

care to comment on how they appear in this program?

so dscaler5 was working prior to beta 2.2? i have downloaded 0.5 already but have yet to install it.

thanks.

and radlight filter manager
http://www.dvbviewer.com/forum/index...=post&id=15232

download and look for the dscaler filters under the direct show section and use that name

Could be, but I pulled that line out of my properites file. Of course I don't have Dscaler 5 installed right now so I'm not sure, but it worked before.

Oh, and in case you didn't know, you don't need to specify the In/Out pins in 2.1+.

It is DScaler Mpeg2 Video Decoder

I've started using Dscaler.. I'm getting better results with TV sources than even NVidia. Its really improved my TV viewing!

Be sure you shut SAGE all the way down first. I had to exit out completely then edit the properties to make it show up myself. After I did that... all was well.

Thank you... Just an initial onservation, but the image seems to be blocky... are there and additional setting for this decoder? What do you recommend setting dvxa mode and deinterlacing too, I could never see much of a change between these anyways.

By far these are the best looking tv decoders I've used in my setup... Still have NVidia running my DVD's.

ok finally up and running in sage - phew!

looks good. i'd have to say that when nvdvd is presented with its best input then nvdvd looks a tad better but for average input video capture dscaler5 seems to do a better job rendering so overall i think it looks a tad better.

i'm using the sage service but have no clients at this time but FYI i had to also add the dscaler property line to both sage.properties and sageclient.properties to make the settings stick.

thanks for your help guys.

ok, finally tried Dscaler. it does a nice job. Questions. The Sage 3rd Party page says it requires the elecard MPEG2 decoder, is this still true with 5..5? Also how about FFDSHOW is it better than DSCALER? How do I can the best picture quality of these? DSCALER, FFDSHOW, FFDSHOW/DSCALER?, etc..

From what I can tell stanger89 is using the NV4 and kny3twalker is running just DScaler5..5

Does FFDSHOW have value anymore?

Looking for advise/recommendations. If NV4 offers just a little better quality over Dscaler, but has a higher CPU then I can see where Dscaler would be best on low end box, and where NV4 would be fine on a high end. If there is an opinion that NV4 is a good degree better quality then it is a real cpu/performance/quality equation to balance out..

I haven't cared much about quality until now, (with MLBDudes SageMCE, I finally have the WAF to displace all other devices and remotes. Just Sage for me. (and she was happy with crappy broadcast TV, quality was not a big factor for her.. ) Now I want to make it Sing..

Help..

(Three other items for discussion. Has anyone reported negative feedback on using the NV4 with an ATI 9600 or 9800s? And does it support the HW MPEG2 decoder on the EPIA M motherboards?? Does DScaler support the HW MPEG2 dcoder on the EPIA Ms?)

Looking for advice.

thanks.
