Shipment to Norway

Can I buy the HD200 even if I live in Norway? The store is down so I can't check...

Yes you can. If I remember correctly the shipping cost is about $60. Only problem is that HD200 comes with a powerbrick with a US plug. And this plug is part of the powerbrick. Good news is that it handles 110V-220V/50Hz/60Hz. So you will need a US - NO plug solution.

I bought a female US plug with 2 wires going out and put a NO plug on these. Working very fine. Little difficult to find though because stores here are afraid people are going to blow up 110V stuff with 220V

One place you can find it is Clas Ohlson. A little tricky because it is a spare part. Go to this article ("36-2077" / "Mellomtransformator"). The spare part "50-7701" / "SEK.KABEL 3OCM AMER.HUNKONTAKT" is what you want. Think it only is available through the internet store. Then you just need a NO plug to connect to the 2 wires. Good luck

My stuff ended up looking like this:

I built the same thing. Cost close to nothing.

Or you could just cut the wire and put a european plug at the end of it. Very easy, and you save the female US part.

For the HD100, yes. For the HD200, nope. The HD100 had an internal power supply that had 2 normal wires going out to a US plug. And yes, I did as you, cut the wires and put a NO/Euro plug on it. But the HD200 has a low-voltage connector on the box, and needs an external power supply. And for some reason (not the best choice), SageTV choose to sell a powerbrick that has the US plug built physically into it. It is part of the actual brick who then has wires with a low-voltage connector to the HD200 box. Only plus, this brick handles input of 110V/220V/50Hz/60Hz.

Here is a picture from the very well written review by GeekTonic of the HD200:

You can easily see the problem with the brick lying atop of the pile there.

What they maybe should have done was choose a powerbrick like the ones you usually get for laptops. Where the plug against the wall is a separate part that plugs into the powerbrick. That way we could just have gotten a correct cable for our country. But no big problem. Above solution works ok.

Had a friend ordering a few weeks back. Think it took about 7-14days from ordering. Also, you might not get any tracking number before it has arrived If you start wondering just send an e-mail to sales at SageTV. There are very responsive, and will give you status.

Alright, I'll just hold my breath...

(voidpt, you wouldn't happen to have a working version of TVgrabber? Mine expired and the page is down)

Sorry mate. I did a complete reinstall a few weeks back, and ditched it for another solution. I did try the latest version, but it was too unstable for me. Crashed all to often on gathering the data. Also I couldn't find sources for all my channels.

What I've done now is use DVBGuide. It grabs the EPG data that is transmitted over DVB-C/S/S2/T and creates an XMLTV compatible file out of it. The bonus with this is that now I have EPG data for nearly all my channels from Canal Digital. Especially the new HD ones. Also the episode id with first run, repeat and so on works very fine for series. The bad part is the Canal Digital, as the only provider in Norway, only sends 3 days (72h) of data at any one time. But I can live with it for now. The quality of the data is much improved. And at some point they may shape up and send 7 days, as they should already. Got some weak answer when I tried to ask support about why this was.

Hahaha! I think I'm rather lucky here, so I'll present this as a tip for other european customers.

Before Christmas I was browsing dealextreme.com for usefull gadgets. One of the "gadgets" I found was a "flat to round power plug converter", and it's laying right here next to me.

I'm guessing this would work too?

Looks perfect. One problem with some of these cheap multi-all-in-one travel adapters is that they don't have the 'springs' inside the US female plug that 'grabs/holds' the US contacts in place. But I watched one of the video's on the site you reference. And your adapter seems to have them. Nice find

Great tip!
But for some reason it will only update the norwegian channels 36 hours ahead in time. It's a little short (as I'm sure you agree), but OK for now.

At least it works...

EDIT: No, wait! I'm being an idiot. It works!
